At EHL, we place a strong emphasis on the well-being of our diverse community, ensuring that health, safety, and inclusivity are at the forefront of everything we do. We are committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and this dedication is reflected in the various programs we implement.

One such initiative is EHL Tempo, which focuses on fostering resilience, agility, and adaptability within the EHL community. Through these efforts, we aim to create a thriving environment where individuals feel supported and empowered to succeed, both personally and professionally, while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Commitments and Accomplishments

  • We developed a comprehensive catalog of well-being services to support the health and wellness of the EHL community worldwide. This led us to obtain the FISU healthy campus label, in 2023.
  • We are currently achieving our objective of raising the amount of financial aid given to students each year.
  • We introduced harassment prevention workshops for our staff, reinforcing our commitment to a safe and respectful workplace.
  • We have been evaluating staff and student satisfaction through the Happy@Work and Happy@School surveys since 2023, and created a cross-departmental task force to follow-up on actions and improve the overall satisfaction of our community.

Student Initiatives

Student initiatives play a vital role in promoting a supportive and inclusive campus environment. Our Student Pride Taskforce fosters open discussions and raises awareness on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, empowering students to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Additionally, our mental health initiatives, such as nap nooks and stress-relieving activities, provide students with crucial support, especially during high-pressure times like exams. These initiatives help promote overall well-being and create a balanced and healthy learning environment, ensuring that students can thrive both academically and personally.

Caring for our Community

Caring for our Community is at the heart of our mission. We exceed Swiss legal employment standards, providing extensive benefits such as maternity, co-parent, and caregiving leave to support our employees at every stage of life. We proudly obtained the Equal Pay Label, ensuring that our compensation practices reflect our dedication to equity and fairness.

We are certified as a Great Place to Work®, reflecting our dedication to creating a positive work environment. Beyond meeting legal requirements, we are deeply committed to investing in the well-being of our community.

Through ongoing studies and initiatives, we strive to create a supportive, inclusive, and fulfilling environment for all. This commitment ensures that both staff and students can thrive, fostering a culture where personal and professional growth are nurtured in equal measure.

Cultivating cultural transformation through the EHL TEMPO initiative

EHL's Tempo initiative aims at transforming our culture and campuses with a new leadership model. Born from the staff-led Pathfinder and Pathbuilder projects, Tempo aligns our purpose and strategy through our principles of transparency, collaboration, experimentation, care and accountability.

This initiative emphasizes cultural agility and people-centric leadership, breaking traditional silos. Workshops use music to unify staff and faculty, fostering open communication and new synergies.  Discover more about the exciting EHL Tempo workshop and other people-centric initiatives in our 2023 Social and Environmental report.

Our Social and Environmental Report

sustainability-week-teaching

In 2020, EHL released its first social and environmental report, confirming the start of its journey towards sustainability by publishing a set of commitments approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.  The report is now released yearly, covering the actions over the course of the previous year.

There is still a lot to be done, but we are devoted to take on the challenges of today’s society and develop our metrics for more precise reporting from year to year, to be able to set precise objectives for positive change over the short, medium and long term.
